Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks a New Milestone for One of the World’s Largest Bible Printing Companies

NANJING, China - Amity Printing Company (APC), a joint venture between the Amity Foundation and the United Bible Societies (UBS), commemorated a significant milestone on April 12, 2023, with a grand groundbreaking ceremony for their Phase II Project, the construction of a second factory building. Esteemed guests, including representatives from the local government, board members, shareholders, and company executives, gathered to witness this momentous event in the company's history.

This groundbreaking event is a testament to APC's unwavering commitment to growth and excellence in meeting the increasing demands for Bibles and thin paper literature publishing, both domestically and internationally.

The Phase II Project, which is scheduled for completion in April 2024, will feature a seven-storey building with some areas being eight. The construction area is approximately 37,087 square meters (or 398,968 square feet). This expansion plan is part of APC's strategic transformation towards sustainable, intelligent, and digital development, in line with its commitment to becoming a more   environmentally responsible, technologically advanced, and digitally-enabled enterprise.

In his opening speech, APC’s Chief Executive Officer Liu Lei warmly welcomed the guests and provided an overview of APC's recent achievements as well as the strategic significance of the Phase II project.

Mr Qiu Zhonghui, Board Chair of APC, took the opportunity to outline APC's vision and commitment to continuous improvement and quest for excellence. He envisioned that the upcoming facility would bring fresh momentum and advantages to APC's progress. He expressed confidence that the construction would follow the principles of quality, safety, responsibility, and collaboration to set an example of high-quality development for the broader society, and set APC on a path to achieve new milestones.

Mr Kua Wee Seng, Board Vice-Chair of APC, delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of UBS. He shared how he has personally witnessed APC’s development over the last 30 years and lauded its remarkable achievements to become one of the largest Bible printing companies in the world with expertise in high quality thin-paper printing. “From printing only 500,000 copies of the Bible in 1988 to 16.3 million copies in 2022, APC has printed a total of over 245 million Bibles to date.” He commended the efforts of all parties involved and expressed his best wishes for APC's continued growth and prosperity in the years to come.

Dr Bernard Low, Co-Director (Ministry) of UBS China Partnership, sharing his delight in attending the ceremony as an incoming board member of APC, said, “We praise God for the long-standing partnership between UBS and APC which has spanned over three decades. This partnership, built on deep friendship and anchored in mutual respect, has been a vital force in spreading the Word of God not only in China but also around the world.”

Representing the local government, Ms Chen Cuihong, Deputy Secretary and Director of the Mo Ling Street Office of the Jiangning District People's Government, delivered the concluding speech. She congratulated APC on her Phase II development and expressed support for APC's endeavours. Following the speeches, the guests participated in a foundation-laying ceremony with golden shovels, officially marking the commencement of the second factory building construction. We rejoice with APC and praise God for her growth and development. APC’s Phase II Project will certainly enhance the company’s capacity and position as a leading thin-paper book printing expert and China's main Bible production center. It will position her to contribute to the growth of China's printing industry both domestically and globally.
