Braille Bibles have been produced in China Amity Printing Company (APC) since 1996. The special printing machine and paper are fully funded by United Bible Societies, dedicated to producing Braille Bibles for the visually impaired in China. The full Chinese Braille Bible – from Genesis to Revelation – comes in 31 volumes.

Madam Zhang is a visually impaired person. She also has a weak heart and getting out of bed proved to be difficult at times. Her husband is mentally disabled. They do not have any children. She came to know the Lord in March 2000 and later joined a fellowship for the visually impaired in Harbin City that same year. She was baptized in 2008. Despite facing difficulties in living each day, Madam Zhang still attends church faithfully.

She shares that the portion of Scripture that is especially dear to her is Psalms 23 because she needed the strength to see her through each day. Full of trust in the Lord, she says with a smile, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. God promises to give strength. Every time I come across these verses, I would pray that God gives me strength and grant me good health because I have heart illnesses. Every time I read this verse, I am filled with joy because of His promises.”

“The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need …… He gives me new strength.”(GNT).

Braille Bibles are produced to bring the Word of God to the visually impaired people in China like Madam Zhang. They desperately need God’s Word in their lives! The demand for Braille Bibles in the year 2009 has jumped 100% from the previous year. More visually impaired people in China now want to read God’s Word. There is currently only one 10 year-old Braille printing machine in operation at APC which is struggling to meet this surging demand. The stress on the old machine has also meant more downtime required for maintenance and repair. Please pray for God’s provision for two new Braille Printing machines for the production of God’s Word to the many visually impaired Christians in China.
