At the invitation of the Primates of Kenya, Uganda and Southern Africa, the China Religious Affairs Minister Wang Zuoan led a 10-person religious affairs officials’ delegation to the three countries from May 12 to 24, 2011. This visit was arranged by the Most Revd Dr John Chew, Primate of South East Asia and Vice President of the United Bible Societies (UBS). Mr Kua Wee Seng, the UBS China Partnership Coordinator, was invited to accompany the Minister and his delegation and to assist Archbishop John Chew in the visit. Read more [...]

“The Lord has done a new thing, a wonderful thing, a great thing!”, declared Rev Dr Cao Shengjie in her sermon at the Thanksgiving Service for the Completion of the 80 millionth Bible held in Nanjing on 8 Nov 2010. Rev Cao is the Co-Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the Church in China and former President of the China Christian Council. Rev Cao recounted the time of the Cultural Revolution when Bibles were confiscated and destroyed. The Chinese Christians were deprived of their Bibles during those years. She remembered when the Chinese Church leaders gathered for their first Standing Committee meeting after the end of the Cultural Revolution in Shanghai in February 1980, they decided that one of their first urgent and important tasks was to print Bibles to meet the crying needs for the Word of God. SEOUL: For the first time in UBS history, representatives from the China Christian Council/ Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CCC/TSPM) and China’s Catholic Patriotic Association (CPA) attended the United Bible Societies’ World Assembly. The 8th UBS World Assembly was held on September 20-24 in South Korea. It was a time where delegates of all 147 Bible Societies gather as one body to reiterate their shared vision, review actions taken since last Assembly and strategize plans for the future.
